Texas Stadium Implosion! (Irving, TX)

April 13th, 2010 No comments

The gang decided that we wanted to go see the Cowboys Stadium Implosion, since it is only five minutes down the road, and it promised to be nothing short of spectacular. The problem with the scene is that the gates open at 2am and the explosion was set for 7am. Although Jesse was skeptical that anybody would be there at 2am we still ventured out to the parking lot around 1.

Prior to getting there, we went to the Laotian New Year Celebration in Keller. It was good to see some friends and have copious amounts of Crown Special Reserve along with the intermittent beer. We got there around 8 and left around mid-night to watch the demolition of an American Icon.
We met up with some of our neighbors and set out in the early morning like predators on a journey to find prey. When we arrived at the intersection of 114 and Loop 12 we noticed TONS of cars. Luckily, the gates were already open and we were about mid-pack. Our spot was fantastic and the purchase of the Tahoe, yet again, proved to be worth every penny. We loaded it with: Air bed, blankets and pillows, chairs, table, cooler (beer and food), gas stove top, lights, and much more.

There were a little over 4000 cars there which we believe translates to almost 10,000 people to watch this historic event. Jesse and Denise fell asleep in the Tahoe as the boys stayed up a little while longer to have a few beers. Eventually the air bed was outside the truck to be slept on by Oscar, Jesse, and I.

As a funny side note, Oscar got there late and walked from another free parking lot 1 mile in the wrong direction, before realizing it. He eventually found us. Richard Crowder rode his bike into the parking lot and was charged no admission which was fantastic. He eventually fell asleep in the driver’s seat and “snored” everyone out of the vehicle.

The airbed got lots of attention from all the pedestrians and our little group did as well. There were so many half intoxicated party people that it made the event quite entertaining. Jesse kept hearing “Why didn’t we think to do that?” from passing spectators while she was buried under a mound of blankets on the air bed.

When it came time for the explosion we climbed on top of the Tahoe and KABOOOM!!!!

Madi’s 4th Birthday

April 4th, 2010 No comments

One of my favorite little models had her 4th birthday last weekend. Jesse, Twinky and I packed the truck and headed out for WF. Once we arrived, Twinky went crazy chasing after all the dogs and soon enough we were ready to party. As always we munched on snacks till we had to unbutton the top button of our jeans and laughed in the good conversations of the family.

Madi got a ton of presents and of course with presents at 4 years old, we tried to find the off switch to some of them.

Well the link to the birthday pictures are here…. CLICK ME! As always the pictures look better on this link than on facebook.

Happy Birth Day Madi!!!
